High above Lahaina & Kaanapali lies Kaanapali Ziplines. Mauna Kahalawai (known as the W. Maui Mountains) is the 2nd rainiest place on the whole planet, with over 300 inches of rain a year! While it is brown and dry lower down, it is lush and beautiful up on the volcano and in the valleys. Kaanapali ziplines traverses several valleys during it's zipline tour.

The view from the platform where we had lunch, was worth the trip up al lby itself.  (Update: now instead of lunch they give out a "Hana Bar")  Sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking a fabulous valley *sorry I forgot the name... is a stunning view of the lush valley in 1 direction and panoramic views of the Ocean, Lahaina & Kaanapali in the other direction. We could also see the Islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i.

The drive up was about 20 minutes; when we arrived at the "outpost" we got into our harnesses, we're given helmets, & water bottles that we attached to our harness. We put our valuables in a lock box and we were on our way.

When I booked my tour I was told we would be walking 2 miles over uneven terrain; I was a little leery....  I'm in ok shape, but not the best, so I was relieved to find it was all down hill walking! + by the end of the Maui zipline tour I would never have thought we walked a whole 2 miles :-)

At the time, I couldn't find any information on their web site about how long the ziplines were, however our guide said the Kaanapali Ziplines were about 600-750 ft. except for the last one, which was 1,100 ft long! We did the first 4 ziplines, which went pretty fast considering you have 12 people going singly (only Kapalua Ziplines and Piiholo Ziplines have side by side 2 people at a time). After the first 4 Kaanapali ziplines we had lunch, took a few photos, then did the last 4 ziplines, culminating in that 1,100 ft zipline. By that time I was good enough to do a 360degree turn while zipping! Did I mention those panoramic ocean views?!?!
